Sponsor a Child

Why sponsor a child?

The act of sponsoring a child is one of the most empowering gifts you can give a child anywhere in the world. It can provide the start of an education that will break the cycle of poverty. It supports the community in which the child lives by lessening the burden on their caregivers and family.

The act of sponsorship itself makes the child aware that someone from far away thinks they are a unique and worthy individual. This connection is critical to developing their sense of worth and their place in their world.

Sponsorship provides access to medical and health care, breaking the cycle of child mortality and poverty that still exists in the developing world.

Overhead costs of the sponsorship program are kept to a minimum due to the voluntary nature of QCCT. Dedicated volunteer co-ordinators work closely with project partners to ensure funds go directly to the programs that benefit the children, families and community.

Unifroms

A uniform gives a child pride in their appearance as they don’t have to worry about peer pressure when it comes to their clothes. It gives them confidence and a feeling of belonging, allowing the child to concentrate on their studies.

School books

School text books are expensive and in many countries there is one text book for every five students.

Food & Health

Provision of antiretroviral drugs and basic health care. A hot meal a day is provided in many locations as this may be the only meal a child will receive.

Wages

Caregivers of the children we support are engaged in economic empowerment initiatives which are aimed at increasing household income to enable them to cater for their children’s needs.

Testimonials

The work by the Qantas crew is extremely valuable to these communities ravaged by many years of drought. The simple gesture of restoring a garden or living areas… means to much to the families on these stations.

We all come across an orginisation now and then who aspire to being charitable. QCCT doesn’t just aspire, they get stuck in! Any way I can help with donations, toys etc., please don’t hesitate.

Rod Routledge
